New York State Council on Food Policy to Meet on December 12 in Kinderhook
The New York State Council on Food Policy will hold its annual winter meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kinderhook Village Hall, 6 Chatham Street in Kinderhook, NY 12106.
Those wishing to attend and present comments must RSVP no later than December 10, 2012 by calling the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets at 518-457-1721 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Public comments must be limited to 5 minutes and a hard copy of comments is required to be submitted to the Council at the time of presentation.
The New York State Council on Food Policy is charged with establishing new food policies for the State that will help ensure the availability of safe, fresh, nutritious and affordable food for all New Yorkers, and expanding agricultural food production.
The Council’s recommended State food policies focus on four key issues areas: maximizing participation in, and support for, food and nutrition assistance programs; strengthening the connection between local food products and consumers; supporting safe, efficient and profitable agricultural food production and food retail infrastructure; and fostering a culture of healthy and local eating for all New York State residents.
