Good SAM RV Rally Takes over the Fairgrounds This Weekend
Rally Offers a Deep Look at the Camping Lifestyle
State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today announced the following events running from Thursday, June 13 – Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the New York State Fairgrounds:
More than 10,000 people from all over the United States are expected to park their RVs at the Fairgrounds for the Camping World/Good Sam RV Rally, running from Thursday – Sunday. The rally, run by the Good Sam Club, brings campers together for several days of tours, seminars, shows, and fellowship.
Seminars run the gamut of life on the road, covering everything from vehicle maintenance to being a good neighbor to the financial considerations of making an RV your only home. Food Network chef and author Bob Blumer will hold daily cooking seminars. Daily tours will take members to destinations such as Destiny USA, Turning Stone Casino, the Genesee brewery, Finger Lakes wineries, and a tour boat on Skaneateles Lake. A trade show will display the latest and greatest ideas for the RV lifestyle.
One highlight of the show will be the attempt to set a world’s record for the most couples to renew their marriage vows at once. Friday between 4 – 6 p.m. at Chevy Court, couples will gather for the ceremony. There will be a prize for the best-dressed couple.
A fireworks display Sunday evening closes the event.
People who want to attend the event without a camper have two options. Good Sam members can purchase a Passport for $79 per person that gives them full access to the rally. Non-members can purchase a day pass for $10 per person per day that allows access only to exhibits and not to seminars or entertainment.
The New York State Fair runs from August 22 – September 2, 2013. The Fair’s theme is “Sharing the Bounty and Pride of New York.”
In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s
