Rock Festival, Musical Comedy, and Rv Sale at the State Fairgrounds This Week
4-H Youth Fair Also Takes Place, Along With Shows for Horses, Goats, and Cows
State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today announced the following events running from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28 at the New York State Fairgrounds:
A huge, one-day rock festival, the NAPA Auto Parts K-Rockathon, takes over the Chevy Court stage at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 27. The event by radio station K-Rock is in its 18th year. Twelve rock bands are scheduled to play from Noon to 10:15 p.m., including the national groups Sevendust, Chevelle, All That Remains, and Three Days Grace. Tickets are $42 in advance and $60 on the day of the show. A full schedule and a link to buy tickets online is available at the event website, http://krockathon.com/.
A performance of a different variety takes place inside the Empire Theater at the Art & Home Center, for the second weekend of performances of The Talent Company’s “Cooking with the Calamari Sisters.” The musical comedy chronicles the final broadcast of a public access TV cooking show run by two outrageous, singing sisters. The show features the original cast. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $32.50 general admission, $30.50 for seniors and students. Camping World holds a recreational vehicle show and sale from Thursday to Sunday in the Belle Isle parking lot. More than 300 new and used units will be on site, covering the full range of RVs from motorhomes to tent campers. Trade-ins are welcome, and financing is available to qualified buyers. Three animal-related shows take place this weekend as well. The Onondaga County Black and White Cow Show takes place in the Beef Barn on Friday, as part of the Onondaga County Youth Fair, which takes place from Friday to Sunday. The Youth Fair also features horse and dog shows for members of Onondaga County 4-H. The New York State Boer Goat Show returns to the Goat Barn on Saturday and Sunday as a showcase for meat goats, while the Central New York Reining Horse Association’s “Summer Slide” takes place in the Coliseum on Saturday and Sunday.
The New York State Fair runs from August 22 to September 2, 2013. The Fair’s theme is “Sharing the Bounty and Pride of New York.” Advance sale tickets offering a 40% savings over the price at the gate are on sale across New York State.
