Fans of classic rock bands Journey and Cheap Trick are reminded that tickets for their Thursday, August 28 show at the New York State Fairgrounds Grandstand go on sale at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26 Troy Waffner, Acting New York State Fair Director, announced today.

Journey has sold 80 million albums worldwide and has earned 19 Top 40 singles and 25 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums since its formation in 1973 in San Francisco. The prestigious "Legend of Live Award" was presented to Journey at the 2011 Billboard Touring Awards to honor the band's contributions to live music and the touring business and to acknowledge their commitment to fans and the art of performing live. The band's 2011 World Tour was one of the band's most successful tours ever, drawing nearly a million fans and ranked in the Top 15 Tours of the year. The band's seminal anthem, "Don't Stop Believin'," remains the biggest selling song from the 20th century in iTunes history. In 2013, Journey toured four continents and performed to more than half a million fans.
Cheap Trick will open for Journey. With more than 5,000 performances, 20 million records sold, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum recording awards, the band was honored in October 2007 by the Chicago Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences for their contributions to the music industry. Their most current release, “The Latest,” has garnered glowing reviews worldwide and continues Cheap Trick’s reign as power-pop progenitors as they continue their legacy of over 35 years in the music industry.
A small number of tickets remain available for the Saturday, August 30 concert by Jason Aldean, with Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr. This includes obstructed-view tickets. Tickets remain available for the Thursday, August 21 concert by Brad Paisley, with Randy Houser, Charlie Worsham, and Leah Turner, and the Tuesday, August 26 concert by Train with The Wallflowers.
