La Prima Wholesale Bakery Inc. Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Milk in Italian Bread

La Prima Wholesale Bakery Inc. of Bronx, New York is recalling its 8oz Italian Bread because it may contain undeclared milk.  People who have allergies to milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consumer these products.

The product comes in an 8 ounce, white paper bag marked with bar code number 832730001 on the back of package and with an expiration date of Thursday 3/6/14 stamped on the front of the bag.  The Recalled “Italian Bread” was distributed throughout the Tri-State Area to Independent Wholesalers.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed that the Milk containing product was distributed in packages that did not reveal the presence of milk.

No illness or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.  Consumers who have purchases 8oz packages of Regular Italian Bread are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-718-584-4442.
