T&F Italian Deli & Pork Store, Inc. Recalls Hot Sopressata Due to Listeria

T&F Italian Deli & Pork Store Inc., 928 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square, NY is recalling its Hot Sopressata sold from 04/28/05-05/24/05 in the Long Island area due to Listeria contamination.

Listeria is a common organism found in nature.  It can cause serious complications for pregnant women, such as stillbirth.  Other problems can manifest in people with compromised immune systems.  Listeria can also cause serious flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals.

The problem was discovered after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Department Food Laboratory personnel found the product to be positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

T&F Italian Deli & Pork Store, Inc. has voluntarily ceased production of the product until they, and Department officials, determine the source of the problem.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased Hot Sopressata should not consume it, but should return it to the place of purchase.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at (516) 354-7620.
