Undeclared Eggs in Maria Food Cookies
New York State Agriculture Commissioner Nathan L. Rudgers alerted consumers today that Asia Cash & Carry Inc, 56-27 56 Drive, Maspeth, NY is recalling Maria Food Cookies because they may contain undeclared eggs. People who are allergic to eggs may run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Maria Food Cookies, a product of Bangladesh, are packaged in clear, uncoded plastic jars. The weight of the product is not listed on the label. They were sold in Michigan, New York and Texas.
The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors. Subsequent analysis by the Departmentís Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of eggs in product packages which did not declare eggs on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with the problem.
Consumers who have purchased Maria Food Cookies should return them to the place of purchase.
