Starway Incorporated, located at 137 Grattan Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11237, is recalling Min Yue Foods Brand Sweetpotato Strip because the product contains undeclared sulfites. People who have sever sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Min Yue Foods Brand Sweetpotato Strip, a product of China, is distributed in coded 6920824900390 and heat-sealed 16 oz. plastic bags. The product was distributed in New York State.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed teh presence of undeclared sulfites in Min Yue Foods Brand Sweetpotato Strip in packages which did not declare sulfites on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
