Undeclared Eggs in “Fruit Cake”
The recalled “Fruit Cake” is packaged in an uncoded, 1.5 pound plastic package. The product was sold at various stores in Brooklyn and Queens.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food safety inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained egg allergens, which were not declared on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product. Consumers who have purchased “Fruit Cake” may return the product to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recalled product should contact Khalid Chaudhry of Narala Bakery at 718-287-8494.
