New York State Fair Opening Ceremony and Events

Opening Ceremonies on Chevrolet Court Stage
§ New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker and New York State Fair Director Dan O’Hara will open the 161st New York State Fair with an opening ceremony focusing around the traditional core of the State Fair, agriculture.
§ Numerous youth from the 4-H and FFA will be recognized for their important role in continuing the Fair’s rich agricultural heritage.
§ In addition, the late Dr. Robert Baker, creator of the chicken nugget and proprietor of Baker’s Chicken Coop on the fairgrounds, will be honored for his work by Cornell University President David Skorton.

Visit the new Pride of New York Exhibit inside the Main Gate
Commissioner Hooker and Fair Director O’Hara will visit a new display that showcases the State’s marketing and promotion program for New York food and agricultural products, and will highlight the importance of agriculture in New York State.

Commissioner Hooker will be joined by John Lincoln, Chair for the Farm Viability Institute, and Mark Kenville, Director of the new Center for Dairy Excellence, to announce the Center’s promotional and educational campaign at the State Fair.

Renew fishing and hunting permits at DEC’s Aquarium
State DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis with Commissioner Hooker will renew their fishing and hunting licenses at the DEC booth, promoting the many convenient services available to fairgoers during the twelve days of the State Fair.
