12th Annual Pride of New York Harvest Festival

New York Food & Wine to be Showcased November 10 & 11 at the Desmond

The 12th Annual Pride of New York Harvest Festival will bring together nearly 100 members of the Pride of New York Program and over a thousand consumers for a two-day celebration of New York foods and wines on November 10 and 11 at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany.

The Festival features a Grand Tasting Harvest Market, which is open from 12 noon to 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday and will showcase nearly 100 Pride of New York members and the diversity of their products, all grown or made in New York State.

"New York State is a national leader in agriculture – producing everything from apples to zucchini, including rich dairy products, award-winning wines, and carefully crafted cuisines," New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker said. "Let us show you all that we are proud of at the Pride of New York Harvest Fest, a celebration of not only New York’s harvest, but the people that bring those products to you, our New York farmers and food producers."

The two-day festival also features several 50-minute seminars, including Serving the Pride of New York, Wine & Chocolate: the Heart-Smart Marriage, and More than a French Fry. There will also be a Wine & Dine with New York Restaurateurs seminar on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Commissioner Hooker will be assisting Richard Rodriguez, proprietor of Chameleon on the Lake in Saratoga Springs, who will share his perspective on New York wine and food pairings. On Sunday, Chef Yono Purnomo and Department Special Assistant Bob Haggerty will present special menus showcasing New York-grazed veal.

"New York is the nation’s third-largest wine producer, producing about 200 million bottles each year," said Jim Trezise, President of the New York State Wine and Grape Foundation. "The Harvest Festival offers a great forum for everyone to learn more about New York’s wineries and how to pair great wines with great cuisine."

The Pride of New York Harvest Festival is co-sponsored by Uncork New York! (the New York State Wine and Grape Foundation) and the Times Union newspaper. Admission to the Grand Tasting Harvest Market, which includes one seminar, is $45. Other packages that include lunch and the Uncork New York Gala are available.
