Serve the Pride of New York for Thanksgiving

Take Pride in Your Meal and Local Farmers and Food Producers this Holiday

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today asked consumers to support local farmers and food producers this Thanksgiving and to buy Pride of New York products for their holiday meal. The Pride of New York is the Stateís promotional program for food and agricultural products grown or processed in New York State.

"While reflecting on our many blessings with family and friends this Thanksgiving, I ask that you take a moment to recognize the local, fresh, and healthy food we enjoy as Americans, and especially here in New York," the Commissioner said. "As New Yorkers, we are fortunate to have such an abundance and diversity of farm fresh products and locally made foods readily available to us. So whether you are looking for a farm-raised turkey, homemade pies or all the fixings, Pride of New York farmers and food producers are ready to serve you and your family this Thanksgiving."

Members of the Pride of New York use the programís emblem on their products, which can be found in numerous retail markets, farmersí markets and specialty shops. Pride of New York products include fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, wine, baked goods, sauces, candy, flowers and more. Pride of New York products can also be easily located by visiting the Pride of New York website at

The Pride of New York was created to help consumers identify fresh, high-quality New York State products where they shop. The Pride of New York Program also assists farmers and food processors in branding their products by using the Pride of New York emblem, and encourages retailers and restaurants to highlight the New York State products they use and sell by displaying the emblem.

Currently, the Pride of New York Program has over 2,000 members statewide that include growers, wineries, food processors, chefs, retailers and other organizations that support New York agriculture. To find out more about the Pride of New York Program, call 1-800-554-4501 or visit
