Media Advisory - Commissioner to Observe Hail Damage in Genesee County

Thursday, June 19 at 1:00 pm at Cabbage Field in Elba

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker will tour a devastated cabbage field in Elba tomorrow to observe damage to agricultural crops from a hail storm that hit much of New York State on Monday. Farmers from Niagara County to the Hudson Valley are reporting significant damage to crops including apples, fresh vegetables, grapes, corn and others. Monday’s hail storm is considered to be one of New York’s worst in recent years.

WHERE: Cabbage Field owned by CY Farms on Watson Road in Elba

Directions to the field: Take Route 98 North. Turn right onto Oak Orchard Road. Turn right onto Watson Road. The cabbage field will be ¾ mile on the right, just past a horse barn.
