Commissioner Aubertine to Pen Monthly Column in Empire State Farmer
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets today announced that State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine will author a monthly column for Empire State Farmer. Published in Adams, NY, Empire State Farmer is published twice a month and mailed free-of-charge to farmers. Empire State Farmer prints and mails about 4,000 copies per issue.
“Like many farmers, I have been a devoted reader of Empire State Farmer for many years now,” Commissioner Aubertine said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for the Department of Agriculture and Markets to tell its story to thousands of farmers across the state and I look forward to getting started on my first column.”
Karl Fowler, Editor of Empire State Farmer, said, “We welcome Commissioner Aubertine’s column to our publication and look forward to hearing his views on a regular basis.”
The mission of the Department of Agriculture and Markets is to foster a competitive food and agriculture industry that benefits New York producers and consumers alike. The Department promotes a viable agricultural industry, fosters agricultural environmental stewardship, and helps to safeguard our food supply. Agriculture makes up one-quarter of the State's land area and contributes immensely to the quality of life in New York State. It generates billions of dollars in economic activity here in New York and produces many varieties of homegrown products to nourish New York State families.
Commissioner Aubertine’s first column will appear in the September 19th edition of Empire State Farmer.
