Acting State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today announced the following events running from Thursday, March 13 to Sunday, March 16 at the New York State Fairgrounds:
Two huge buildings will be filled with ideas for homes, lawns, and gardens as the 2014 Home and Garden Show takes over the Center of Progress and Exhibit buildings from Thursday to Sunday. Hundreds of experts will be on hand to help homeowners and prospective homeowners with answers to almost any conceivable question or problem.
Organizers say more than 30,000 people will attend the show, which they call the largest of its kind in the Northeast. The show is presented by the Home Builders and Remodelers of Central New York association.
Among the features at this year’s event, Onondaga County’s Save The Rain will be on hand to demonstrate how people can save money and trouble by making smart decisions about what to put down the drain. There will also be a sneak peek of this summer’s Parade of Homes, including a look at the charities which benefit from the annual event. The hosts of the local radio show, “The Home Repair Workshop,” will be on hand during certain times each day to talk with fans. Also, one company will host a workshop demonstrating how to install a retaining wall. The seminar takes place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Center of Progress Building.
The show runs on Thursday from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m., Friday from 2:00 – 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Admission is $8, with children age 16 and under admitted free. A coupon for one dollar off the admission price is available by visiting the Home and Garden Show section of the website at http://www.hbrcny.com/
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 21 – September 1, 2014. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its 2014 theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.
In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.
