Country Music and TV Star Kellie Pickler to Open Chevy Court for the 2014 Great New York State Fair

‘Best Days of Your Life’ Singer, ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Winner Provides Fair’s First Concert

The Chevy Court concert series at the Great New York State Fair gets off to a high energy start when Kellie Pickler takes the stage at 2:00 p.m. on opening day, August 21.  Her show will be the first of 23 free concerts by major national acts at Chevy Court.

“We’re very excited to start the Fair with an artist of Kellie Pickler’s quality.  She’s going to put on a great show for her fans and all of our fairgoers on opening day.  We know people are going to love the entertainment we’re lining up for Chevy Court this year and I want to encourage everyone to make time to come to the Fair,” said Troy Waffner, Acting State Fair Director.

Kellie Pickler grew up immersed in country music in the small town of Albemarle, North Carolina with the words of Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton shaping her musical footing. At 19, she gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of “American Idol.” Her debut album, Small Town Girl, has sold more than 900,000 copies worldwide and has produced three hit singles: “Red High Heels,” “I Wonder,” and “Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind.” Her self-titled sophomore record produced her first Top 10 hit, “Best Days of Your Life,” co-written with Taylor Swift.  Pickler’s third studio album, 2011’s 100 Proof, was named the No. 1 Country Album of The Year by Rolling Stone and was listed on “Best of 2012” lists by the Washington Post, Rhapsody, AOL’s The Boot and more.

In spring of 2013, Pickler partnered with dance coach Derek Hough and won the Mirror Ball Trophy on “Dancing with the Stars.” In November 2013, Pickler released her new album, The Woman I Am, which has received strong critical acclaim. It contains her current hit single “Little Bit Gypsy” as well as her first single, “Someone Somewhere Tonight.” The video of that song (featuring Pickler and Hough) was nominated for an American Country Award for Music Video of the Year: Female. Pickler is also an avid supporter of the U.S. military, having performed on many USO tours.
