Onondaga County Youth Horse Show at the New York State Fairgrounds This Weekend

Empire State Paint Horse Club and New York State Boer Goat Shows Also Taking Place this Weekend

Acting State Fair Director Troy Waffner today announced the following events taking place at the New York State Fairgrounds from July 25 to 27:

The Fairgrounds do more than just host the Great New York State Fair every year, they are home to some of the most prestigious horse and livestock shows in the Northeast. This weekend will have both horse and livestock shows, starting with the Onondaga County Youth Horse Show. The first show of the weekend kicks off at 8:00 a.m. Friday at the Toyota Coliseum. Shows will run daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday to Sunday. The event is kid friendly and hosted indoors. Admission into the show is free as well.

The Empire State Paint Horse Club will continue its show season July 26 and 27 at the New York State Fairgrounds in the 4-H Rings & Stables. Their second show of the season will consist of both paint and pinto horses to show. Shows will run from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily and admission to the shows will be free.

In addition to the horse shows, the Empire State Meat Goat Producers Association will be hosting the New York State Boer Goat Show. This event will run both Saturday and Sunday and admission is free. Shows will be held at the Goat, Llama & Swine Barn beginning at 8:00 a.m. and run until 10:00 p.m. on both days.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 21 September 1, 2014.  The Fair’s mission, reflected in its 2014 theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.  Find The Great New York State Fair on Facebook, follow @NYSFair on Twitter, and enjoy photos from the Fair at Flickr.com/photos/nysfair.
