Sold Out! Great New York State Fairís Cyber Monday Ticket Promotion Sells out Quickly

State Fair Fans Buy All Available Tickets in Just Over Two and a Half Hours

It took just over two hours and 30 minutes for eager shoppers to snap up all 10,000 tickets available in the Great New York State Fair’s first-ever Cyber Monday deal, State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball announced today.

The sale began at 9:00 a.m., and in the first hour, more than 5,300 tickets were sold with hundreds more purchases in process.  By a little after 11:30 a.m., the last ticket was gone. At the height of the sale, tickets were selling at a rate of 100 per minute.  The Fair offered up to 4 admission tickets to the 2015 State Fair for $3 per ticket, a discount of 50% over the cost of an advance sale ticket and less than one-third the cost of a $10 ticket at the gate during the Fair.

“We urged people not to wait to buy their tickets, but even we were surprised by the speed with which people were buying.  It’s a good omen for the 2015 Fair and, of course, a great deal for those who took advantage of it,” said Commissioner Ball.

No refunds are allowed, including for special admission promotional days at the Fair such as Dollar Day on Labor Day, which will return in 2015.

“We worked hard to make the 2014 Fair the best ever, with more than two dozen new attractions and events, including the all-new Wade Shows Midway.  For 2015, we’re already planning even more new and exciting things, so these tickets are an even better bargain,” said Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 27 Ė September 7, 2015.  The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.  Find The Great New York State Fair on Facebook, follow @NYSFair on Twitter, and enjoy photos from the Fair at Flickr.com/photos/nysfair.
