Senator Gillibrand to Keynote 2015 Great New York State Fair Women’s Day Luncheon
Registration for Luncheon is Underway
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will deliver the keynote address at the 2015 Women’s Day Luncheon in the Art and Home Center’s Empire Room at noon on Wednesday, September 2 at the Great New York State Fair, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced today. The theme for the day will be “Push-It Women!”
Senator Gillibrand has served on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Environment and Public Works and the Special Committee on Aging. Gillibrand is also a strong women’s equality advocate. Her book, “Off the Sidelines: Raise Your Voice, Change the World,” encourages women to support the issues they care about.
“We are proud to have Senator Gillibrand speak on Women’s Day at the Fair this year,” said Waffner. “Senator Gillibrand is a strong advocate for the people of this state, our nation and women everywhere. I know that she will have a powerful message for this Women’s Day.”
Liz Ayers, formerly of WCNY, will emcee the program. A reservation is required for the luncheon. The cost is $20 per person, which includes the luncheon, Fair admission and parking. A registration form and the day’s program can be downloaded from www.nysfair.org or by calling 315-487-7711 ext. 1265 for more information. Seating is limited and registering as soon as possible is recommended.
The Art and Home Center opens at 10 a.m. and all registered attendants of the luncheon are invited to a 10:30 a.m. coffee reception in the Empire Theatre provided by New Horizons Computer Learning Centers. The reception will begin with the talk entitled, “Make a Difference,” presented by Jessica Lahr, Mrs. NYAmerica. This event is also open to the public.
A mini-fair will also be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chevy Court Pavilion, which will feature advocacy groups for women providing information.
The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 27 to September 7, 2015. The Fair’s mission, reflected in its 2015 theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.
In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.
The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.
