The Great New York State Fair is Accepting Applications for 2016 Fair Entertainment Acts and Musical Performers

New Online Form Streamlines Application Process

The Great New York State Fair is accepting applications from entertainment acts as well as musical performers and bands for the 2016 Fair, which runs from August 25 to September 5.  For the first time, applications are being accepted only online, streamlining the submission process for applicants.  Applications are available on the Fair’s website at

“Top-class bands and performers are a big part of what makes the Great New York State Fair so great.  We’re always looking for terrific new performers and bands that want to take their talent before some of the largest audiences in the state.  I urge performing artists in all disciplines from across New York State to consider applying to the Fair this year,” said Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner.

The Fair is seeking musical performers for its Regional Artists’ Variety Stage, the Pan-African Village Stage, Gospel Music Weekend, and the daily parade.  Last year, the Fair and its vendors presented more than 500 free musical performances.  Grounds performers in a variety of categories are also being sought.  Veteran fairgoers will be familiar with performers and acts such as Hilby the Juggler, the Walker Brothers Circus, Fritter and other strolling characters, Sea Lion Splash, the annual sand sculpture, and others.

New this year, applications will only be accepted online, allowing those interested to submit performance samples, references, federal tax information, and more.  The fee to file the online application is $25, with exceptions for certain non-profit organizations, such as the school bands that perform in the Fair’s daily parade.

The application period will remain open until all available slots are filled.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 25 to September 5, 2016.  The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.  Find The Great New York State Fair on Facebook, follow @NYSFair on Twitter, and enjoy photos from the Fair at Also, New Yorkers are invited to send their ideas for the Great New York State Fair at
