Celebrate ‘Halfway to the Great New York State Fair’ with Admission Tickets at Special Price

Online Promotion Offers Limited Number of Tickets at Super Discount Price

The calendar says Thursday, February 25 is still winter but the Great New York State Fair is already looking forward to summer with a special online ticket promotion.  The Fair will celebrate the midway point to opening day of the 2016 Fair this Thursday by offering a limited number of admission tickets for sale at a super discount price, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced today.

The ‘Halfway to the Great New York State Fair’ sale makes 10,000 tickets available for purchase online beginning at 6 a.m. at http://www.etix.com/ticket/p/4218907/2016-gate-admission-aug25thsept-5th2016halfway-to-the-fair-syracuse-new-york-state-fair. Tickets will sell for $4 each, which is 33% off the advance sale price and 60% off the $10 price at the gate.  They are good for admission any day of the 2016 Fair.

This sale follows the 2016 Fair’s first online ticket promotion on Cyber Monday, which offered 20,000 tickets at $3 each.  Tickets sold out within a matter of hours.

“Buying a discount ticket to the Fair is a great way to chase away thoughts of another cold and dark winter day.  There won’t be another chance to get a ticket at this price this year to enjoy the summer’s best food, rides, music, and the best of New York agriculture,” said Waffner.

Purchases are limited to four tickets per person.  A credit card charge of nine cents will be added to each ticket sold. Tickets are barcoded and can either be printed at home or be scanned from a smartphone at the gate.  Buyers will receive a receipt by e-mail with instructions on how to access their tickets.

More Special Promotions

The Fair will present a final opportunity to purchase admissions tickets at prices below the $6 advance sale rate. The successful Cinco de Mayo promotion, first launched last year, will return on May 5, with 5,555 tickets available beginning at 5:55 a.m. for $5.

The regular advance sale program will begin in July, making tickets available online and at retail outlets across the state for $6, a 40% savings over the cost of admission during the Fair.

The Fair will also bring back its special pricing days in 2016.  The wildly successful Dollar Day on Labor Day event sets admission at just $1, and Three-Dollar Thursdays will return with all admissions at $3 on August 25 and September 1.  Some of the Fair’s special days also provide free admission for certain groups.  Check the Fair’s website at nysfair.org for the full list of special days.

Tickets purchased online for the 2015 Fair came from 36 states and two Canadian provinces, broadening the reach of the Great New York State Fair.

The New York State Fair, operated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, runs from August 25 to September 5, 2016.  The Fair’s mission, reflected in its theme, “Summer’s Best in Show,” is to showcase the best of New York agriculture while providing top-quality entertainment.

In addition to the annual New York State Fair, the Fairgrounds host dozens of agricultural events throughout the year, including some of the Northeast’s most prestigious horse and livestock shows.

The home of the Great New York State Fair is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year. A year-round schedule of events is available on the Fair’s website.  The Fair’s official mobile phone app is in the Google Play and iTunes stores.
