Candy, Flowers, Taste NY, and More for Your Valentine on the Concourse

Pop-Up at the Plaza February 8 14

Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced the first Pop-Up at the Plaza event will take place from Wednesday, February 8 to Tuesday, February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The new concept will locate seasonal, temporary retail in a storefront on the north end of the concourse between the Plaza Visitor Center and KeyBank.

“Transforming the Empire State Plaza Concourse into a one-stop shop for Valentine’s Day is a great way for OGS and Taste NY to support some amazing local vendors,” Commissioner Destito said. “When Valentine’s Day does arrive, a romantic skate with your sweetheart at the Plaza ice rink is a wonderful way to celebrate this special day.”

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said, “The Taste NY pop-up store is a great opportunity to find unique and quality gifts for your loved ones this Valentine’s Day and to try some of the exceptional products made right here in New York State. When consumers shop at any of the Taste NY locations across the State, they are supporting local companies and they can feel good about buying top-notch products from hard-working men and women in their communities.”

The Valentine’s themed pop-up store, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays will offer shopping (credits cards accepted) for all your Valentine’s Day needs and feature:

  • Flower Blossom Farm A local flower grower and distributor from Ghent, Columbia County, which will offer fresh arrangements and bouquets, balloons, cards, and plush items.
  • We Do Fondue This chocolatier from Albany will be hand dipping fresh fruits, including strawberries, into chocolate for your sweetheart. They will also have a variety of candy items.
  • Kustom Kreations  Based in Troy, this vendor will have custom gift baskets for children and adults, chocolates, candy, and plush items.

Cupid’s Concourse

On Wednesday, February 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the annual Cupid’s Concourse event will take place on the north concourse, increasing the options for Valentine’s Day shoppers. Vendors participating in Cupid’s Concourse will offer crafts, handmade fudge, handbags, jewelry, candles, and many other gifts.

Cupid’s Concourse will coincide with the Empire State Plaza Winter Farmers Market, in the center of the concourse, and the Black History Month Cultural Expo and Vendor Fair on the South Concourse.

Taste NY Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Store
On Monday and Tuesday, February 13-14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., OGS and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets will present a special Taste NY Valentine’s Day pop-up store that will feature a number of vendors from around the region offering some of New York State’s best wine, cheese, and more just outside the Plaza pop-up store on the concourse. Taste NY vendors will include Victory View Vineyards, Argyle Cheese, Sundae’s Best Hot Fudge Sauce (on the 13th only), and Isn’t It Sweet (candies and nuts on the 14th only).
