Southern Rock Stalwarts the Marshall Tucker Band to Play Chevy Court at the Great New York State Fair
The Marshall Tucker Band returns to the Great New York State Fair for the first time in more than a quarter century with a 2 p.m. show on Tuesday, August 29 at Chevy Court, Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner announced.
Forty-six years ago, The Marshall Tucker Band was founded in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Thanks to hits like “Can’t You See,” “Heard It in a Love Song,” “Fire on The Mountain,” and “24 Hours at a Time,” the southern rock group has sold millions of albums worldwide. The band’s songs have been featured in major motion picture films and television shows. CMT (Country Music Television) named “Can’t You See” the #4 Greatest Southern Rock Song. The band’s debut album, “The Marshall Tucker Band,” reigns as Gibson Guitar’s #5 Greatest Southern Rock Album. UltimateClassicRock.com crowned the band’s “Can’t You See” as the #1 Southern Rock Song of all time.
“We’re very happy to be able to bring the Marshall Tucker Band back after a long absence. The band’s music is timeless and I know this will be a highlight on our Chevy Court schedule this year,” said Waffner.
This will be the Marshall Tucker Band’s fourth appearance at the Great New York State Fair and its first since 1990. The show takes place on the second Senior Day, which is also Police, Fire and Rescue Day. All senior citizens and emergency services workers with identification are admitted free of charge.
The Marshall Tucker Band joins a star-studded and diverse lineup that includes:
- 3 Doors Down, 8 pm, August 23
- Peter Noone, 2 pm, August 28
Concerts at Chevy Court are sponsored by Chevrolet.
