Robert Randolph and the Family Band to Jam on Chevy Court on the Great New York State Fairís New Preview Day

Robert Randolph, the rock and soul master of the steel guitar, brings his Family Band to the Chevy Court stage for a free 2 p.m. performance that will get the party started on the brand new Preview Day, Wednesday, August 23 at the Great New York State Fair, Acting Director Troy Waffner announced today.

Robert Randolph and the Family Band’s fifth album, “Got Soul,” was released in February and features the single, “Love Do What It Do,” featuring vocals from country superstar Darius Rucker. Said Randolph about the single, “’Love Do What It Do’ is about the mysterious power of love and how it transforms and connects people. Love is a universal natural thing Ė how beautiful is that?"

Randolph and his band first gained national attention with the release of their 2002 debut album, “Live at the Wetlands.” The band followed with three studio recordings over the next eight years; “Unclassified,” “Colorblind,” and “We Walk This Road,” which, together with tireless touring and unforgettable performances at such festivals as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, won them a very passionate fan base. Randolph’s unprecedented prowess on his instrument garnered him a spot on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitarists ever, and gained the attention of artists such as Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews, The Roots, and Jack White, who have collaborated with Randolph on stage and in the studio.

“Robert Randolph’s music is about love and having a good time together.  We know Fair fans are going to love our new Preview Day and they’ll have a very good time dancing to the music of Robert Randolph and the Family Band,” said Waffner.

This will be Randolph’s second appearance at Chevy Court, following a show in 2010.

Admission on the Fair’s new Preview Day will be $1.

Randolph joins a star-studded and diverse lineup that includes:
