Resources for New & Beginning Farmers

What's New

New farmers are a critical piece of the agricultural landscape in NYS. As the average age of current farm owners and operators increases across the country, as well as within the state, new farmers are needed to keep agricultural lands in production and to bolster the industry for the future.

In 2017, the Governor and the Department of Agriculture & Markets announced the creation of a New & Beginning Farmer One Stop Shop, a web-based resource to help new and beginning farmers connect to the resources and services that can help their businesses thrive. In order to better understand the needs of beginning farmers here in NY, we also conducted a Listening Tour, hosting 8 sessions in various regions across the state. What we heard will inform the Department as to how we can better serve new farmers and your feedback will also inform how this One Stop Shop continues to grow and evolve.

The resources you'll find here are by no means exhaustive. If you think something should be added to our list, or have any other questions or concerns, please get in touch!
