It will be two weekends of holiday shopping and family fun when the Great New York State Fair debuts its newest event, Winterloo, in the Exposition Center. Winterloo takes place on two weekends, December 7-8 and 14-15. Hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturdays and 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sundays. Admission and parking are free.
Winterloo will feature merchants offering Christmas and holiday gift items. In addition, there will be music, fun food and fireworks.
“The Fair has always been about family and traditions. We think this is a great opportunity to use the Expo Center to create something unique around the holidays that can become an annual tradition for families in Central New York,” said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.
Winterloo will feature “The World’s Largest Snowman Bounce House” and other rides and games as well as several crafting areas where kids can make holiday gifts and ornaments for free. Children can either hang them on the Christmas tree in the middle of the Expo Center or take them home.
There will also be ice carving demonstrations each day at 2 p.m. and a holiday window exhibit sponsored by Comfort Windows on the Expo Center main floor.
Food and beverage vendors will offer a few holiday twists on classic fair favorites, including peppermint deep-fried Oreos and holiday-flavored fried dough. Beer and wine will be available, including wine slushies with a seasonal flair. There will also be a selection of hot drinks, such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate to keep attendees warm and in the holiday spirit.
Each Saturday will end with a holiday fireworks extravaganza at 8 p.m. Classic holiday music will play as the fireworks fill the night sky with color.
